Wakatobi National Park has the potential of marine natural resources are both valuable and unique species, with panoramic stunning underwater. In general, sea water has a configuration of the starting flat to sloping toward the sea, and there are some areas that bertubir waters steep. Water depth varies, the deepest reaches 1044 meters with a bottom waters most of the sandy and rocky.
This national park has 25 fruit clusters with coral reefs around the coast of the coral islands along the 600 km. More than 112 species from 13 families of corals including Acropora formosa, A. Hyacinthus, Psammocora profundasafla, Pavona cactus, Leptoseris yabei, Fungia molucensis, Lobophyllia robusta, Merulina ampliata, Platygyra versifora, Euphyllia glabrescens, Tubastraea frondes, Stylophora pistillata, Sarcophyton throchelliophorum, and Sinularia spp.
Fish species richness of this national park is owned as many as 93 species of fish consumption and trade of ornamental fish such as spots argus (Cephalopholus argus), takhasang (naso unicornis), pogo-pogo (Balistoides viridescens), napoleon (Cheilinus undulatus), red fish (Lutjanus biguttatus ), baronang (Siganus guttatus), Amphiprion melanopus, Chaetodon specullum, Chelmon rostratus, Heniochus acuminatus, Lutjanus monostigma, Caesio caerularea, and others.
In addition there are several types of sea birds such as geese, brown stone (Sula leucogaster plotus), kettle melayu (Charadrius peronii), king prawn erasia (Alcedo atthis); also there are three common types of turtles that land on the islands in a national park that is hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), turtle urn (Caretta caretta), and turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea).
